Attention all Star Wars enthusiasts. It appears ‘Episode VII’ might have an official title.

In a latino-review exclusive interview, Jet Lucas shared that his dad (George Lucas) is working on the treatments to the trilogy. During the interview, he mentioned:

“It seems that he had two working titles for Star Wars: Episode VII that were competing in his mind: ‘Rise of the Jedi’ and ‘Return of the Sith’ ’’

Well, both options are catching, and they have their marketing value. Although, the “rising” factor, might have been done a lot. With films such as ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’, (2003) ‘Hannibal Rises’ (2007), Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ (2012), ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ (2011), and ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ (2014). Of course, ‘Return of the Sith’ there is an instant connection with ‘Return of the Jedi’.

Honestly, I think no matter the title, Star Wars: Episode VII is going to break records, even is going to beat ‘Avatar’, but in the words of Dennis Miller “that’s my opinion, I could be wrong”.

Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to hit theaters late 2015.

This movie has Oscar all over it. It is based on ‘Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption‘. A non-fiction book written by Laura Hillenbrand, who is known for her bestselling ‘Seabiscuit: An American Legend’.

‘Unbroken’ tells the life of Louis Zamperini, a track star who participated in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany (when it was occupied by Hitler). In 1941, he joined enlisted, but it was in 1945 when his plane was gunned down by the Japanese army. He was captured and sent to a concentration camp.

The film tentative release is Christmas 2014. It is written by the Cohen brothers and stars Jack O’Connell. He started in the classic soccer film, ‘United’, the British gang drama ‘This is England’ and the great ‘Harry Brown’.

Hopefully now The Thing will have a CGI treatment. Just hire the SFX crew who worked on ‘Hulk’ on “Marvel’s The Avengers” or the ‘Thor: Dark World (they have some mean rock creatures). Or go with WETA, peter Jackson visual effects company.

“Chronicle” helmer Josh Trank is on board to direct, hoping to do for “Fantastic Four” what Fox recently did with the “X-Men” franchise — reinvigorate the series with a group of younger, rising stars and build the films around them.

No names have yet been mentioned for the villain or. Gregory Goodman and Matthew Vaughn are producing the pic.

Hot news from Finland! Rovio Entertainment announced today that Fergal Reilly (Art Department ‘Hotel Transylvania’ ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’) and Clay Kaytis (Animation Department ‘Wreck-It Ralph ‘) will direct ‘Angry Birds‘. The upcoming 3D CG-animated film is based on Rovio’s bestselling app and it will be produced John Cohen and Catherine Winder. Both animation veterans will make their directional debut, so you can imagine they’re very excited and proud about the project.

Rovio Entertainment CEO Mikael Hed said:

I’m very excited that Fergal and Clay have joined us, bringing with them their vast expertise. They are two of the brightest rising talents in animation, and I’m confident we are building the right team to tell the story of Angry Birds and deliver an amazing movie experience to our fans.”

Producer John Cohen commented:

David, Catherine and I are thrilled to welcome Fergal and Clay to the Angry Birds filmmaking team. They both have an extraordinary range of talents, and we’re looking forward to working with them to bring the birds and pigs to life on the big screen.”

Angry Birds is one of the world’s biggest entertainment franchises, starting in 2009 with the original mobile game that remains the number one paid app of all time. It seems there is a fever out there for birds films. Be prepared for this migration: ‘Free Birds’ (September 2013); ‘Rio 2′ (April 2014); and ‘Angry Birds’ (July 2016). I wonder if Rovio waited too long for to adapt it.

Words cannot describe how mesmerized I was after watching “Gravity.” It is a stunning, hypnotic, and emotional experience from its first frame, with a new, clean, and monochromatic Warner Brothers logo that dissolves to a mega shot of outer space. The 3D is so realistic; you almost feel you are floating there, witnessing the beauty of space and the drama of the film. I can even dare to say, I wanted to hear “The Blue Danube” or “Also Spach Zarathrustra.”

As the camera glides through a space station, it introduces the movie’s main and only characters: Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (George Clooney). Quickly, we learned their stories. Dr. Stone is the helpless rookie, and Kowalski is kind of a salty sailor but charming. Everyone is happy because it is their last day on their space mission, and it’s the last day of Kowalski’s career, as he is due to retire. However, life throws them a curve ball or, literally, debris of a Russian satellite. These destroy their space station, leaving Sandra Bullock and George Clooney the sole survivors, and they have 90 minutes to find a way home or die. 

In my book, this is Sandra Bullock’s best film of her career. I was never too keen on her “Blind Side” performance. She carries the drama of the film with such a tour de force that is just impressive. Dr. Ryan Stone reminds me of a young Lt. Ripley who, for the second half of Alien, was so resoursive and had such a survival spirit.  I don’t know if Alfonso Cuarón made it intentional, but when Sandra Bullock changes space suits, it’s like the metamorphosis of a timid astronaut to a brave yet vulnerable soul.

Technologically speaking, “Gravity” is a giant leap for mind kind. Five-time Oscar nominee cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and visual effects supervisor Tim Webber created a poem in space, pretty close to the jaw-dropping photography of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The huge difference is the camera moves so freely in space; it had no boundaries and, as a result, made the audience a witness like never before.

I predict that “Gravity” will win an Oscar for Alfonso Cuarón, Emmanuel Lubezki, Tim Webber, and, of course, Sandra Bullock.

You know it; go ahead and see Gravity today in IMAX 3D! This is how 3D is done, minimalistic and pumping it every now and then. It should underline the story, not be the story.

This is not your Mary Shelly’s ‘Frankenstein’. From the people you brought you the vampire ‘Underworld’ series, comes a modern twist of the classic horror novel. The plot is as follows. Aaron Eckhart (‘The Dark Knight’) plays the Frankenstein’s monster, which is named Adam (note: as in Adam and Eve) He has awoken after 200-year nap. He decides to take the surname of his creator, and suddenly becomes involved in a war between two immortal clans in an ancient city: gargoyles and demons. The film also stars Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Socratis Otto, Jai Courtney, Kevin Grevioux, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.

Paramount Pictures released the ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ trailer. The film directed by Kenneth Branagh (‘Thor’, ‘Henry V’, ‘Hamlet’) is based on the character created by the late Tom Clancy. Unlike the previous films, this one is not adapted from a specific novel. It is somewhat based on the world of Jack Ryan.

This time Jack (Chris Pine) is as a young covert CIA analyst who uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack, led by Viktor Cherevin (Kenneth Branagh). The film also stars Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner, who looks he will steal the show.

Like James Bond or Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan is not the only character that has been brought to life through different actors. This is his screen timeline:

Great news! Total Film just confirmed Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play Quicksilver character on Avengers: Age of Ultron. Of course, the last time we saw him wearing spandex and beating bad guys was in ‘Kick-Ass 2‘ so it is a familiar role. This week, Marvel also published Elizabeth Olsen to play Scarlet Witch who is Quicksilver sister. What does Talylor-Johnson think about the character?

There’s years – over 50 years – of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that. Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her. He has real anger frustration – I like that. I always thought it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you’d see him come back round – but he’s already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored – his attention span is so fucking quick.”

It seems Joss is more than ready. The film now has 3 members: James Spader, Olsen, and Taylor-Johnson hat without any doubt make it even more memorable.
