Great news! Total Film just confirmed Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play Quicksilver character on Avengers: Age of Ultron. Of course, the last time we saw him wearing spandex and beating bad guys was in ‘Kick-Ass 2‘ so it is a familiar role. This week, Marvel also published Elizabeth Olsen to play Scarlet Witch who is Quicksilver sister. What does Talylor-Johnson think about the character?

There’s years – over 50 years – of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that. Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her. He has real anger frustration – I like that. I always thought it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you’d see him come back round – but he’s already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored – his attention span is so fucking quick.”

It seems Joss is more than ready. The film now has 3 members: James Spader, Olsen, and Taylor-Johnson hat without any doubt make it even more memorable.

The Good Dinosaur

Disney Studios just announced they will move Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” from May 30, 2014 to Nov. 25, 2015. This will be a full year without a Pixar film on theaters, the last time this happened was in 2005. The studio made additional changes on their films released dates. ‘Maleficent’ starring Angelie Jolie will move from its originally planned July 2 release to May 30. The studio also bumped Pixar’s ‘Finding Dory’ from Nov. 25, 2015 — now occupied by “Dinosaur” — to June 17, 2016. Hopefully, Disney doesn’t start to move ‘Star Wars: Episode VII‘ or ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ dates.

Every time James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger work together, something magical happens, they create legendary and highly entertainment films. So far, they have collaborated in ‘The Terminator‘, ‘Terminator 2‘ and ‘True Lies“. And according to latino-review.com, the gobernator might be the villain in ‘Avatar 2‘. This makes perfect sense to me. Arnold is eager to have a strong comeback after his political days. Unfortunately, I do not think his next projects ‘Escape Plan‘, ‘Sabotage‘ and ‘The Expendables 3‘ will do it. Director James Cameron hasn’t posted anything on his twitter account, but the guys at latino-review have a good lead. Hopefully it happens.

Marvel Entertainment, made this exciting announcement today:

“James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. The film comes to theaters on May 1, 2015. ”Avengers: Age of Ultron” will bring the Marvel Universe’s biggest heroes together again to face one of their biggest villains, with “Marvel’s The Avengers” director Joss Whedon returning to write and direct the sequel. “Marvel’s The Avengers” was released in 2012 and went on to earn $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the third-largest grossing movie of all time.”

I can see it now, a mind blowing face off between Hulk and Ultron, pretty cool stuff, right?

Ultron: Avenger hater

So far, this is what we know about the much anticipated sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron. 1) Robert Downey Jr is the only actor who has signed, obviously the rest will follow 2) Loki will not appear.  3) Shooting starts February 2015. 4) There is a nasty and evil robot named Ultron; but who is he? In an Entertainment Weekly interview Whedon commented:

“As a character I love [Ultron] because he’s so pissed off,” Whedon says. “…I knew right away what I wanted to do with him. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it. He’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because, at some point, everybody  becomes magic, and I already have someone who’s a witch.”

A couple of weeks ago, the press and studios announced Aaron Taylor Johnson (‘Kicks-Ass‘ and ‘Godzilla‘) is officially playing the part of Quicksilver, a superhero who has appeared in both Avengers and X-Men comics. Quicksilver has a sister known as The Scarlet Witch, and she will appear in the sequel, too. Originally the role was assigned to Saoirse Ronan (Hanna and the upcoming ‘How I Live Now’), but the deal did not materialize. According to bleedingcool.com, another Godzilla actor, Elizabeth Olsen will do it. What do you think? Is she a good option?

Marvel Studios is one busy studio. They are already in producing or post-producing ‘Thor: The Dark World‘, ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier‘, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. And speaking of GOTG today latino review published pictures of a sequence shot at London’s Millennium Bridge. You can notice some characters are recognizable, while others are painted actors waiting to be digitally retouched

The film stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

What does a studio and a filmmaker do after producing the most successful movie in film history, just imagine Avatar grossed $2.8 million worldwide. As well know, they did not rush to do it, after all the film was released in 2009. Today, Deadline.com confirmed Fox will produce Avatar 2, 3 and 4. Yes! Three sequels and they will be shot at the same time, but released in 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectably. Josh Friedman (Sarah Connor Chronicles) will write Avatar 2, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Jurassic Park IV) will be writing Avatar 3 and Shane Salerno (Alien vs. Predator Requiem) will be writing Avatar 4.

Cameron added: 

“Building upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience. In writing the new films, I’ve come to realize that Avatar’s world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue to expand this universe, I’m pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and Josh — all writers I’ve long admired –¬ to join me in completing the films screenplays.”

And Jim Gianopulos, 20th Century Fox CEO, added:

“We at the studio have no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of Avatar. The growing breadth and scale of Jim Cameron’s plans for his magnificent fantasy worlds continue to amaze us.”

Deadline also mentioned the cost of the sequels will be close to $1billion dollars. Just imagine the new 3D and CGI technology we are going to experience. The folks at Industrial Light & Magic and Weta Digital must be happy. Just imagine what lies in the upcoming summer with Avatar 2, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode 7, The Amazing Spider Man 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fury Road, Batman vs. Superman, and Sex on the City 3 (just kidding).
