The Way, Way Back trailer

It looks like Steve Carell plays another despicable guy.

Another boring day at water park.

What do The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Submarine, 500 Days of Summer and Zombieland have in common? They are independent movies where an awkward teen has a huge crush on the hottest girl everyone likes. And she falls for him at the end. Whether it is realistic or not, these coming of age films are entertaining, and that is why I am looking forward to seeing The Way, Way Back.

It tells the story of Duncan (Liam James), an introverted teenager that has to spend his summer vacation with his overprotective mom (Toni Collette) and her asshole boyfriend (Steve Carell). Nevertheless, Duncan has an idea of how to avoid them. He starts working on a run-downed water park where he meets two people that change his life. An eccentric employee (Sam Rockwell) and the girl of his dreams (Ana Sofia Robb).

The Way, Way Back is directed and written by Max Faxon and Jim Rash and was a success at the Sundance Festival.
